“The push for risk-free training is to allow students to practice on a patient where they can not only increase their skill level but feel free to make mistakes. And from that, they're able to learn from their mistakes. And when they're in a real clinical environment, there's less likelihood of them making a mistake, and that benefits us all.
These mannequins that we refer to as high-fidelity mannequins are about as human as you can get. When the mannequin is on and breathing, you can actually, if you put your hand over the mannequin's mouth, you can feel the air coming in and out. You can see the eyes blinking. We can control the speed that the eyes blink. We can constrict the pupils to simulate a head injury or head trauma.“ |
